Note: Z-Wave devices can be identified by a green band on the box. ZigBee devices can be identified by a red band on the box. To determine which type will work best for you, consider the rest of your Iris network. Check how many of ZigBee and Z-Wave devices you have, and also check the distance between each of your devices, including your hub. In general, the switch of choice should match whatever type of device you have more of. In-wall switches can repeat the ZigBee/Z-Wave signals and improve the reception of like devices. The type of network the switch uses will not affect how it operates in the Iris app.

Additional Note: There are also add-on switches with a grey band on the box that do not pair to Iris nor any other home automation system. These are required if you are setting up a three-way switch circuit. You will need an additional smart switch paired to Iris to operate what the circuit will control.

Pairing Device to the Iris Hub

The pairing process is the same for GE fan switches, light switches and dimmers.

Step 1: To begin, follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. Contact a professional electrician if you need assistance with installation.

Step 2: Once installed, open the Iris app and go to the "Add" section, tap "Device," and browse or search for the device. This will put the hub in pairing mode, indicated by a blinking green light.

Step 3: If your device has a paddle, press the top once. If your device has a toggle switch, lift it up once.

Step 4: When the hub triple beeps, your device has been paired.

Reset Instructions

You should perform a reset if the switch is having pairing or connectivity issues. These steps will reset the switch's Z-Wave configuration. See the video below to reset the switch itself.

Step 1: To begin, start from the dashboard in the Iris app. Navigate to the Left-Hand Navigation Menu (≡), then Devices, and finally Z-Wave Tools at the bottom of the list.

Step 2: Tap Remove Z-Wave devices at the bottom of the screen. Remain on this screen until step 3 is complete.

Step 3: Go to the switch, and turn the switch off (press the bottom paddle or flip the switch downward). You may need to do this more than once. You will know that the switch has been reset when the hub beeps twice. The Iris app will list which device has been reset.

Step 4: To re-pair the device, put the hub in pairing mode by tapping the plus sign on the dashboard, then Device.

Step 5: Turn the switch on (press the top paddle or flip the switch upward). The hub will triple beep when pairing is complete.
