Other - How to Connect and use your Iris Smart Home system with your Google Assistant

Use the following instructions to enable your Google Assistant to be able to control your Iris Smart Home system.


- Download the Google Home app from the iOS or Android App store

- Add your Google Home or 3rd party Google Assistant device to your Google Home app following manufacturer instructions

- Tap the Home Control button from the menu. 

- Tap the “+” button to Add devices. 

- Select Iris

- Provide your Iris login information to link your Iris and Google accounts.

- Choose the Place where you’ll use Google Assistant. (Only applicable if you have more than 1 Place.)

- Select Authorize under the Authorize App screen.

Your accounts are now successfully linked! If you are using an Android device and are running Android Marshmallow (6.0) or higher, once you complete the steps above, you can also use the Google Assistant on your phone/tablet to control your Iris Smart Home system by holding down the Home button

Here are a list of voice commands that you can use with your Google Assistant:

4 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, brighten the [light name]"  
5 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, brighten the [light name] to 50%"  
6 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, set the [light name] to 50%"  
7 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, set the [light name] to [color]" Color values are set by Google:
i.e. blue, red, orange, yellow, purple, green. Note that temperature values of "warm white, cool white, etc." are not yet supported.
8 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, is the [light name] on?"  
9 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, is the [light name] off?"  
10 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, turn on [switch/outlet name]"  
11 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, tun off [switch/outlet name]"  
12 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, turn on the lights"  
13 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, turn on all of the lights"  
14 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, turn on the lights in [room name]"  
15 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, turn on the [room name] lights" To enable rooms, first put your device in rooms inside the Google Home app
16 Lights & Switches "Hey Google, turn on [device nick name]" Inside the Google Home app, you can set a nickname for your device(s). If you change your device's name in Iris... the quickest way to update Google is to use the nickname feature. If you changed several device names in Iris, it may be easier to unlink and re-link your Iris account to your Google Assistant so all device names are imported from Iris.

To switch heating or cooling modes

 (To turn the thermostat back on, you must specify a mode. Try saying: “Turn on cooling/heating," “Turn on heat-cool," “Set the heat to 68," “Set the air conditioning to 70," “Set heat-cool to 72)

 (For your security, actions in your Scene that unlock door locks, unlock garage doors, or that disables your Security alarm will not be able to run from your Google Assistant)
 
 





 













































**Nest and Honeywell TCC thermostats connected to Iris will not respond when you request a thermostat command from your Google Assistant due to contractual limitations.


FAQs

Q.  I've added additional devices to Iris since I originally setup my Google Assistant. How do I get make my Google Assistant aware of these new devices?
 
A. You will need to Unlink and Re-link your account in order to discover new devices in your Google Home App.
